Collection: Antique Window and Door Panels

Among the many talents of Chinese artisans, carving - the art of using a blank object and by applications with sharp tools, turn the object into a work of art. ( That, by the way is my definition.) Among the objects they excel in, wood carving is by far, the craft they do best.  The craftsmen carved small objects and large objects including wood windows and door panels.  For many years as old houses gave way to modern constructions, old window and door panels were saved and found their way to the antique markets in China.  But the exportation of these architectural artifacts were stopped by the Chinese government since 2007.  The ones in the collection were imported prior to that date.
