Collection: Chinese Antiquities

Chinese antiquities is a term used by art historians for objects that are over 1000 years old.  However, this name is loosely applied to objects that are excavated (found in tombs, kiln sites or other excavations) or existed in collections for generations.  Since 2008, there is a ban on the importation of objects of antiquity from China that predate 1920.  Virtually anything made before 1920 cannot legally enter the country.

The objects of antiquities offer for sale here were imported before 2008.  In addition, each object is authentic and not a copy.  With the amount of reproductions out in the marketplace, it is advisable for a collector to do a certain amount of research before purchase.  There are thermoluminescence tests that can date a ceramic object within 200 to 300 years with accuracy.  But these tests are expensive.  So it is a matter of trusting my judgement or yours.
