Moss agate, a form of Chalcedony, is a semi-precious gemstone formed from silicon dioxide . It contains minerals of a green color embedded in the stone, forming filaments and other patterns suggestive of moss. The field is usually white and included minerals that are mainly oxides of manganese or iron. The large bottle has a clear field that shows off the fern like filaments.  It is well hollowed and light for its size. The carver did well to show off the fern like stands. The jade like stopper adds to the elegance of the bottle. The top is slightly concave, the raised foot has a flat bottom.  Its dimensions are 2 inches wide, 0.75" deep and 3.25 inches high.  It is dated to the 2nd half of the 20th century.
