Collection: Chinese Snuff Bottles
This is a collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles that are highly collectible. The use of snuff or powdered tobacco necessitated the invention of the snuff bottle to hold the snuff and a spoon attached to the cap or stopper to bring the snuff closer to the nose for sniffing. The popular use of snuff diminished with the introduction of cigarettes and cleaner streets. However, the use continued in Mongolia and there are bottles made for sale to Mongolians. Today snuff bottles are made in many materials, the most creative and popular is glass. Agates, Chalcedony, Quartz, Jasper, Jade, are some materials widely used.
