Jasper bottles hold great interest, they all have beautiful colors and patterns. The interesting appearance of this flattened globular shape snuff bottle is due to its properties as an orbicular jasper. It is made up of silicified rhyolite or tuff, quartz and feldspar crystallize in aggregates of needle-like crystals. When highly polished, it is very attractive as in this bottle. Its many common names are related to the formation of the aggregates, the most common is kambara or frog skin, but in this case, the aggregates resemble something of sea fossils, so it is named. The snuff bottle body tapers to a concave bottom and on the top, the straight neck ends in a concave top. It is matched with a green stone encased in brass and the spoon is also brass.
It is a 20th century bottle, most likely to be post 1970. However, the concave foot and top are good evidence that it does have some age and not made recently.
