This is a handmade buff color pottery pot with two small earlugs from the Qijia Culture. a bronze age culture (2050 -1700 BCE) in the upper region of Yellow River in Gansu Province, Northwest China. It was intended as a funerary object and its purpose was to be used as a container. Still there is attention to detail with the ring around the mouth that resembles pie crust and the all over texture of the pot possibly made by impression of a piece of textile. The pot was fired in a pit with other pieces of pottery resulting in uneven coloring and black burnt marks. 7 inches in diameter, 5.25 is the diameter of the mouth and 7.5 inches high.
CONDITION
Excavated condition, pot is in good shape, there are hairline cracks along the mouth rim, please check images.
