The almost solid red jasper snuff bottle is of a flattened rectangular shape with rounded shoulders and base tapering to a short raised foot. The oval foot ring encircled a flat bottom. The short straight neck ends with a concave top dipping towards the center opening. The finish is smooth and is matched with a red agate on bone stopper, and bone spoon.
Red jasper is an opaque, microcrystalline variety of quartz with large grainy crystals. It has a flattened rectangular form with rounded shoulders and base tapering to a raised oval flat foot. The straight neck ends in a concave top. Most of the body is a poppy red with bands of orange and grey on one side. The other side is almost solid red with the exception of a thin grey band.
There are red jasper bottles available but this bottle is special because the orange bands appearing at the base is a good contrast against the red background/ It could almost be a design for an abstract painting.
