The period of 1970's and afterwards was very creative time in Chinese art. On account of the economic and political situation resulted from the Cultural Revolution, the was a great impetus to gain foreign currency through exports. Artists and craftsmen were encouraged to product works of art. This is a beautiful bottle made of fossilized wood. The Skillful snuff bottle carver fashioned a matching cover for this interesting petrified wood fossil bottle. It is of a flattened globular shape with sloping shoulders and ending in a short raised oval foot. The cap is made of the same material and the stopper is wood and it is an old spoon. The textures on the bottle with lines and small irregular spots are rather unusual, as a result of the wood being fossilized
